UMADT and IA-DATA Visit Global Access Dx to Strengthen Affordable Diagnostic Innovation

By UMDATA

Bedford, United Kingdom 🇬🇧 | 3 November 2025  — The Universiti Malaya Affordable Diagnostics and Therapeutics (UMADT) and International Affordable Diagnostics & Therapeutics Alliance (IA-DATA) teams recently visited Global Access Dx (GADx) in Bedford, United Kingdom, as part of ongoing international engagements to advance affordable diagnostic innovation.

During the visit, the team toured GADx’s research and development facilities and learned about the organisation’s journey in implementing electronic management systems, strengthening quality assurance processes, and transitioning from traditional manufacturing approaches to more innovative and scalable production models.

The visit provided valuable insights into how multidisciplinary teams collaborate to design, test, and manufacture diagnostic solutions that respond to real-world global health needs.

Key learnings from GADx will inform UMADT’s work in Malaysia, including diagnostic development best practices and innovations in urinary tract infection (UTI) test kits relevant for pregnant women and older adults. These insights will contribute to strengthening Malaysia’s capacity to deliver accessible, reliable, and affordable diagnostics.

UMADT and IA-DATA extend their sincere thanks to Mark, Emily, and the entire GADx team for the warm welcome and generous sharing of expertise.

The visit marks the start of a series of UK engagements, with further meetings and site visits taking place in London as UMADT and IA-DATA continue to build international partnerships in diagnostics, technology transfer, and innovation
