Building Partnerships for The Global Health Network Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | 12 December 2025 — The International Affordable Diagnostics & Therapeutics Alliance (IA-DATA) continues to strengthen its collaborative footprint in Malaysia through ongoing discussions to support the establishment of The Global Health Network Malaysia.

IA-DATA held a series of constructive meetings with key national stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), Clinical Research Malaysia, and the Universiti Malaya, to explore opportunities for collaboration in research capacity strengthening, training, and knowledge exchange within the global health ecosystem.

Discussions focused on how The Global Health Network Malaysia could serve as a national platform to support researchers and institutions by providing access to skills development, shared resources, best-practice guidance, and international research networks. The initiative aligns closely with IA-DATA’s mission to enable equitable, affordable, and impactful health innovation through partnership-led approaches.

IA-DATA welcomed dialogue with senior leaders and experts, including Datuk Dr Nor Fariza Ngah, Deputy Director General (Research and Technical Support), Ministry of Health Malaysia; Dr Ami Fazlin, Director, Institute of Medical Research, National Institutes of Health Malaysia; Dr Carren Teh, Director, Institute of Clinical Research, National Institutes of Health Malaysia; Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, Former Director General, Ministry of Health Malaysia; Dr Akhmal Yusof, Chief Executive Officer, Clinical Research Malaysia; Dr Yolanda Augustin, Clinical Oncologist and Lecturer at City St George’s, University of London and Universiti Malaya Affordable Diagnostics and Therapeutics (UMADT); and Professor Ivy Chung, Universiti Malaya.

These early conversations highlight strong potential for multi-institutional collaboration and shared leadership in developing The Global Health Network Malaysia as a hub for research excellence, collaboration, and global connectivity.
